Korea Day 1

Spent the day in Myeong-dong being very touristy. Girls wanted to shop but food saved the day. Had a delicious kimchi stew for brunch in a tiny hole in the wall restaurant; super inexpensive as well, approx AUD $8 a dish. Followed with a  cafe latte from a coffee shop chain (no not the green American one) which I think they may have forgotten to put the coffee in, was really weak. After more shopping 🙄 snuck away from the girls for another coffee, tried a different chain this time and ordered an "Americano" which is what the Koreans call a long black. Interestingly whenever you order a coffee you have to specify whether it's hot or iced, it's not automatically assumed it will be hot.  My Americano did have a coffee flavour, as you would hope with black coffee, but wasn't bitter at all.  I didn't come for the coffee so no harm done. Found the girls and it's dinner time, thank the deities for that.  They decided on dak galbi at a place called Yoogane. ...

Korea Day 0

Image
Ar rived Saturday afternoon to -10°, something of a system shock after 38° in Melbourne. Puffy jacket, scarf, and beenie helped but it's still bloody cold. Dumped bags at the hotel and went out for dinner at an inexpensive local restaurant. Majority of restaurants seem to offer Korean cuisine, which is great (didn't come to Korea to eat pizza).   No idea what this place is called this is where we ate.  I went very Korean and had kimchi stew and with a bottle of Cass beer. Stew was great, beer was not what you would call full flavoured but went well with the stew. Sat. 2018-12-08
